Donor's Choose Tip

Look up.  Just a little bit.  Right below my Subject Bar.  There it is - my Donor's Choose widget!  While having my nightly visit to Teaching Blog Addict, I came across a post from Mrs. Patton's Patch.  In it, she explains how to add a Donor's Choose widget to your blog.  It's absolutely awesome and so, so easy. Mrs. Patton also gave a fabulous tip.  Apparently, if you put in the code YELP when you are checking out, they will match your donation!  I tried it and it worked but I don't know how long the code will be good for so don't delay.    Thank you, Mrs. Patton, for such a great post!

Thank You Three Times Over!

What a week it's been!  Three fabulous bloggers have honored little ol' me with the Versatile Blogger Award.  It is such a humbling feeling but also so exciting to know that I'm able to share with others.  For that, I want to give a HUGE shout out to Amy at The Resource(ful) Room, Sara at Smiling in Second Grade and Lori at Conversations in Literacy.  Please check out their blogs - they have fabulous ideas that you will totally love!

Now, for the rules...

1. Thank the person who presented the award to you and link back to them.
     (Check)

2. Tell seven things about yourself.
     Hmmmm....
         1.  I'm a true Rhode Islander - one of those people that thinks driving 45 minutes to get somewhere is too far.  Ha!
         2.  I have two dogs.  One is totally deaf and it's been quite an experience but I love them both.
         3.  I went on a cruise two summers ago and can't wait to do it again.
         4.  I used to be a paper girl and saved enough money to pay my own tuition at a Catholic highschool that I wanted to go to.
         5.  I've been married 21 years to my best friend.
         6.  I LOVE technology and managed to convince a past principal to put a SmartBoard in my room.  Yay!
         7.  I used to get grounded for reading too much and not getting my chores done.  LOL!

3. Pass this onto 15 newly discovered blogs and let them know they've received the award.

Fifteen is an awful high number when this award has been around for awhile.  I always try to choose blogs that have not already been recognized but I'm not sure I'll be able to do that this time.  If you have already received this award, there is no pressure from me to pass it on again.  Congratulations to everybody that is (or has been) a Versatile Blogger award winner!

Love Her Style!

Before Christmas, I decided to purchase this cute little apron from FoodPhyte on Etsy.  I had seen it as a giveaway on someone's blog (can't remember which...) and it's been on my mind since.  No, I did not win the giveaway but those giveaways are so much fun, aren't they?!  Anyway, here's a picture of the apron that I bought.

Isn't it so cute!?  I can't wait to start using it in the classroom.  I plan to fill my pockets with ROAR stickers (Respect Others, Act Responsibly), my iPod Touch for easy access to Class Dojo (the best behavior management website ever!) and the usual teacher necessities like pens, colored pencils, post-its, etc.  I think the apron will be a very useful tool for me.  If I get (or find) any other ways to make these aprons useful, I'll let you know.

Anyway, I've been teaching for 22 years now which speaks volumes to my age which I will not disclose but I tend to be very leary when ordering things online.  I still need to see what I'm buying in person before I spend my money on it but I could not find any aprons as cute as this ladybug one so I took a chance.  Well, let me tell you that when my apron arrived, I went right back online and ordered TWO MORE!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! The quality of these aprons is excellent and the designs are so, so cute.  You should really click here to check out this fabulous lady.  It will definitely be worth your time.
